Rob was guest speaker at the Malpeque EDA nomination meeting which was
held March 8th,2007 at the New London community Complex. Nearly 400
people were in attendance. The crowd broke into applause many times
during Rob's speech in which he noted that he can see change coming in
Malpeque.
"Wayne Easter should be shaking in his boots with the quality of
candidates that have come forward here tonight," he said.
Rob spoke of Easter, saying he's spending more time looking after the
interest of farmers in western Canada.
"If you watch question period . . . and you see Wayne Easter up, you
all know what he's been asking about lately, exclusively - the
Canadian Wheat Board," Rob noted.
"The Canadian Wheat Board is an agency in Alberta, Saskatchewan and
Manitoba. There is no Canadian Wheat Board in Prince Edward Island. "I
think it's time we had a member of Parliament from the Malpeque riding
that represents the interests of this riding - not the interests of
people from the other side of the country."
Following Rob's speech it was announced that Mary Crane had been
chosen by the membership over retired Borden police chief Jamie Fox.
Mary Crane was born and raised in Kensington and is married to
Kensington veterinarian Mel Crane. Mrs. Crane is also a teacher in
Kensington.
